ACAMIS Sports League Charter

I. Name & Parent Organization

The name of this association shall be Association of China and Mongolia International Schools Sports League hereinafter referred to as the ACAMIS Sports League. The Sports League is an organization under the association of China and Mongolia International Schools and is in all matters subject to the constitution, by-laws, rules and regulations.

2. Purpose

The ACAMIS Sports League is designed to provide a forum for ACAMIS member school athletic directors, coaches, and other interested parties to better meet the aims and purposes of ACAMIS in regard to sport education. The aims and objectives of the ACAMIS Sports League shall be to:

  • Give students the opportunity to experience new endeavors as scholar-athletes.
  • Allow students to participate in sports.
  • Allow students a safe environment in which to experience winning and losing.
  • Allow students to experience the thrill of being a part of a team.
  • Give students the opportunity to travel.
  • Foster interaction with students from other schools, and develop bonds of friendship.

3. Membership

Schools that are currently members of ACAMIS are considered members of the ACAMIS Sports League. Members shall be encouraged to:

  • Support each school's Athletic Director (or designee) attendance at the ACAMIS Annual General Meeting.
  • Host at least one event (within a two-year rotation).
  • Send participating teams to all pri mary sport tournaments within the school's division.

4. Dues

There will be no dues outside of those pertaining to ACAMIS.

5. Officers

Section A: Athletic Chair. The athletic chair will be appointed by the ACAMIS Board. He/she will be an athletic director from a member school.

Section B: Divisional Leader. The divisional leaders will be representatives from member schools.

6. Meetings

An Annual Meeting of the ACAMIS Sports League shall be held during the Spring. Special meetings may be called at the discretion of the ACAMIS Board of Directors provided Member Schools are notified of such a meeting not less than fifteen (15) days prior to the meeting date.

7. Voting

All votes concerning the ACAMIS Sports League will be limited to the member schools of the ACAMIS Sports League and passed by a majority vote. All votes shall be designed to provide the ACAMIS Executive Board with recommendations of an advisory, non-binding nature.

8. Amendments to Articles

These articles may be amended or altered by a simple majority vote of the members present and voting at the annual spring meeting as long as they do not alter Article 7.

9. Seasons

A. There will be 3 primary seasons

  • Volleyball
  • .Basketball 3
  • Soccer

B. There will be additional seasons as interest dictates. These may include, but will not be limited to:

  • Badminton
  • Swimming
  • Table Tennis
  • Tennis
  • Touch Rugby
  • Track and Field

10. Teams and Divisions

A. There will be a maximum of 6 teams per division except in the most recent division to be formed which may have up to 9 teams.

With more than 9 teams the following pattern should be followed:

  • Two five team divisions
  • One five team and one six team division
  • Two six team divisions
  • The last division to form will take in new schools

11. Tournament Teams

Each participating school will be limited to 1 boys' team and 1 girls' team per sport per tournament (unless one of the growing divisions needs an extra team to make two pools for the round robin. In that case, schools in the division, schools with the largest number of students first, would be invited to enter a second team.)

12. Squad Sizes

The squad size for each team needs to be within the follo wing limits:

  • Volleyball (6-a-side, squad size 7-10)
  • Basketball (5-a-side, squad size 6-10)
  • Soccer (7-a-side, squad size 8-12)

13. Tournament Fees

Payment of entry fees for all tournaments is either:

  • Up to a maximum of US$40/day/athlete
  • Sum of total tournament hosting costs divided between participating schools. (Sum will not exceed US$40/day/athlete)

Payment arrangements for fees are at the discretion of the host school.

14. Tournament Format

For division 1 and 2, tournaments will be single round robin followed by 1v2, 3v4, and 5v6 finals. All teams will get to play 6 games per tournament. For division 3, tournaments will be double round robin followed by a 1v2 final. Teams get to play 4 or 5 games per tournament.

15. Rules

A. The pr mary sports will be played according to the rules as written in the hosting guidelines.

B. Rules for the additional sports shall be determined by the host school, with participating schools informed of said rules no less than 4 weeks prior to the tournament date. Once an additional sport becomes established, appropriate rules will be determined.
