ACAMIS CULTURAL ENRICHMENT (ACE) CHARTER

1. Name & Parent Organization

The name of this association shall be Association of China and Mongolia International Schools Cultural Enrichment (committee) hereinafter referred to as the ACE. The ACE is an organization under the association of China and Mongolia International Schools and is in all matters subject to the constitution, by-laws, rules and regulations.

2. Purpose

The ACE is designed to provide a forum for ACAMIS member schools Creative Arts directors, teachers, and other interested parties to better meet the aims and purposes of ACAMIS in regard to creative arts education. The aims and objectives of the ACE shall be to:

  • Give students the opportunity to experience new endeavors.
  • Allow students to participate in Creative Arts.
  • Allow students a safe environment in which to express themselves.
  • Allow students to experience the thrill of being a part of a collaborative process.
  • Give students the opportunity to travel.
  • Foster interaction with students from other schools, and develop bonds of friendship.

3. Membership

Schools that are currently members of ACAMIS are considered members of the ACE. Members shall be encouraged to:

  • Support each school's Creative Arts representative by attendance at the ACAMIS Annual General Meeting.
  • Host at least one event within a three-year rotation.
  • Send participating groups to cultural events.

4. Dues

There will be no dues outside of those pertaining to ACAMIS. 

5. Officer

A.    ACE Chair. The ACE chair will be appointed by the ACAMIS Board.

B.    Co-Chair. The ACE co-chair will be appointed by the ACAMIS Board.

6. Meetings

An Annual Meeting of the ACE shall be held each year. Special meetings may be called at the discretion of the ACAMIS Board of Directors provided Member Schools are notified of such a meeting not less than fifteen (15) days prior to the meeting date.

7. Voting

All votes concerning the ACE will be limited to the member schools of the ACE and passed by a majority vote. All votes shall be designed to provide the ACAMIS Executive Board with recommendations of an advisory, non-binding nature.

8. Amendments to Articles

These articles may be amended or altered by a simple majority vote of the members present and voting at the annual meeting as long as such amendments do not alter Article 5.

9. Divisions

There will be:

     I.        A Pan China Division for High Schools.

     II.       A Northern and Southern Division for Middle Schools.

  • Northern Schools include Nanjing International School and all schools north of Nanjing.
  • Southern Schools include Access International Academy of Ningbo and all schools south of Ningbo.
  • Suzhou, Wuxi and Shanghai Schools are considered central and may participate either in the north or south, depending on the event and the location.

    III.      Other Pan China Cultural Events.

    IV.      Other Regional Middle School Cultural Events. 

10.   Event Sizes

The Maximum number of participants per school is set at the discretion of the host school.

11.   Event Fees

Payment of entry fees for all tournaments is either:

  • Up to a maximum of RMB 750/day/particpant.
  • Sum of total event hosting costs divided between participating schools. (Sum will not exceed RMB750/day/particpant).
  • Payment arrangements for fees are at the discretion of the host school.

12.   Event Description and Format

A.    Cultural Convention format is at the discretion of the host school. Format may include specialty and elective workshops in performing and/or visual arts.

  • One high school event will be held and two middle school events will be held, one in the north and one in the south.
  • Band, chorus, art and drama activities are integrated into a final performance.
  • HS – 3 day event. MS – 2 day event.

B.    Chess Events format is at the discretion of the host school.

  • Two events are planned for both high school and middle school.

C.    Model United Nations format is at the discretion of the host school.

D.    Math Olympiad format is at the discretion of the host school.

  • Two middle school events will be held, one north and one south.
  • 1 day event.
  • Schools have teams that engage in mathematical activities.

E.    Kids Read format is at the discretion of the host school.

  • Program for MS readers.
  • Band, chorus, art and drama activities are integrated into a final performance.
  • 1 day event.

F.    Art on the Go format is at the discretion of the host school.

  • Students’ art will be displayed in a book and on a web site.

G.   Community Service for Students format is at the discretion of the host school.

  • A high school activity to encourage community service in the home community.

H.    Speech and Debate format is at the discretion of the host school.

  • 2 middle school events will be held.
  • 1 day event.

I.     Other events may be offered as approved at the ACAMIS Annual General Meeting.
