Whole Child:

This year’s overarching theme of the Whole Child includes a holistic education and skill development in early childhood education which we know play a huge role in children’s lives. Sessions will include building children’s social emotional well-being through targeted social skill activities and play based learning and creating an environment that honors children. Making space that honors the humanity of educators, children, and community members is crucial to equitably preparing learners to reach their full potential.

Individuals:
The Individuals sessions will include building autonomy and agency to give students a sense of ownership in their learning. Other elements can include building inquiry skills through student centered learning and differentiated teaching and learning practices to serve children’s needs.

Community:
The Community sessions will include building bridges between the school, children and community through service projects, school/community events and sustainability initiatives. Other elements can include ways to become well-rounded, healthy individuals in education and life outcomes and the development and scaffolding of relationships with parents and caregivers to facilitate strong home-school partnerships.

Global:
The Global sessions will include a focus on international mindedness to develop changemakers for the future. Workshops can encompass developing global citizens who are culturally competent individuals with a sense of community and genuine interest in experiencing the world around them. Other options can utilize experiential learning and multi-generational projects with high school and middle school students or community members.
