Theme: OPPORTUNITIES TO BUILD: Futures, Leaders, Spaces & Lives
This conference targets current and aspiring educational leaders including, but not limited to, Heads of School, division Principals, subject department or grade-level leaders, middle management, directors of sports or activities, business and HR managers, and coordinators of school initiatives (i.e., diversity, inclusion, wellness, service-learning, etc).
The theme of this year’s conference is “Opportunities to Build”. As schools are all about people, we will explore the opportunities to nurture excellent learning environments and develop our learners (students, parents, staff, teachers, and leaders). The conference sub-themes will be focused on Futures, Leaders, Spaces and Lives.
- Building Futures: explores learning now for an uncertain future.
- Building Leaders: discusses issues and initiatives to develop stakeholder leadership and decision-making involvement at internationals schools, especially our students.
- Building Spaces: looks at all the opportunities to design structures and spaces that will promote safe and effective learning.
- Building Lives: will look at issues of diversity, inclusion, wellness, and support at our schools.
The conference format will include two keynote speakers with global recognition, and workshop sessions presented by the keynote speakers, educational leaders, peer presenters, sponsors and even students. The conference also hosts planning sessions for ACAMIS Athletic Directors and ACE Coordinators, both focused on providing students with excellent opportunities to compete or exchange in athletics, the arts, student leadership, and other student clubs/activities.
Those of you who are planning your travel will be interested in knowing at the end of the conference, buses will depart from Hangzhou International School for the Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport and Hangzhou East Railway Station at 3:30 pm. On Sunday afternoon, it may take about 45 minutes to arrive at each of those transportation hubs.

Rosalind Wiseman challenges us to understand the power of dignity to build courage, connection, and community. She is a speaker, writer, advisor, and thought leader on leadership, culture, conflict, and young people. Currently, she serves as the senior leadership consultant at the US State Department’s Office for Overseas Schools which serves over 195 schools throughout the world and is supporting Professor David Yeager at the University of Texas on a forthcoming book on young people and motivation. She is the author of nine books including the multiple New York Times Best Sellers: Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends, and the New Realities of Girl World—the groundbreaking book that was the basis for the movie and Broadway Musical Mean Girls, and Masterminds & Wingmen: Helping Our Boys Cope with Schoolyard Power, Locker-Room Tests, Girlfriends, and the New Rules of Boy World, which was awarded Best Parenting Book by Books for a Better Life. Her ninth book, published by Chronicle Books in the fall of 2022 with co-author Shanterra McBride, is Courageous Discomfort: How to Have Brave, Life Changing Conversations about Race and Racism. She is currently revising Queen Bees & Wannabes for a 4th edition to be published in 2024 in time for the 20th anniversary of Mean Girls.

Host School
Hangzhou International School (HIS) opened its doors in August 2002 and currently serves over 900 students of over 50 nationalities in Early Years-Grade 12. Students at HIS experience an inclusive international curriculum, which is truly designed for expatriate students and further supported by the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). HIS is an authorized IB World School offering all three IB programs (known as the IB Continuum).
In August 2022, HIS relocated to a new, purpose-built campus. Covering over 50,000 square meters, the HIS campus redefines education through open, shared, and multi-functional learning and leisure spaces. It is characterized by two buildings: The Cocoon (ECE Campus) and The Lantern (Main Campus). Refund Policies
If notice of cancellation re the registered participant/sponsor is received:
- 30+ days pre-event: 80% of fee is refundable
- 15-29 days pre-event: 40% of fee is refundable
- Less than 15 days pre-event: no refund
Online PD Programs - No refund will be granted re participants commencing an online PD program and withdrawing part way through. Course material fees (re DiSC surveys, book fees, etc) are not refundable once access is granted.
Refund Due To PD Event CancellationIn the event of cancellation of a conference, workshop or online PD program, we will fully refund the registration or sponsorship fee(s) paid. However, we will be unable to refund any travel, visa or accommodation expenses incurred or course material fees where access has been granted.
