The job-alike will be presented from the perspective of those who are actually making a transition between educational and social cultures - students, parents and staff. It will focus on how transitions affect one’s sense of identity and belonging. It will explain the various benefits and challenges Cross Cultural Kids/Third Culture Kids may experience as they embrace a global life and it will consider the various stages of the transition cycle, offering insights on what to expect in terms of emotions, practical ways to leave well and enter well, and how and why to address unresolved grief.

What is a Job-Alike?
It is an opportunity to promote collaboration among education professionals with similar job responsibilities to enhance their craft, share knowledge and network regionally. These highly intensive learning sessions provide an opportunity to share resources, information and engage in discussions and planning that will immediately benefit their schools.

This job-alike is for anyone with a responsibility for planning, facilitating or supporting transitions-care in their school.

Time Requirement: 2 hours, plus 1-hour reading before the job-a-like
Breakout Stands: There will be 2 facilitators for this job-a-like, each will facilitate a discussion on 1 of 4 topics:
- Strategies for nurturing identity and belonging
- Practical ways to leave well and enter well
- How and why to address unresolved grief
- How to ensure we include leavers, stayers, and arrivers in addressing transitions
Post Meeting Activity: All participants will be provided with an E-Showbag including resources referenced and more information on Professional Development opportunities.

Space is limited to 60 people to ensure interactive and productive dialog. A school campus may only send 4 people. If a school has multiple campuses it may send 4 people per campus. A campus may be considered the Primary, Middle and Secondary school sections of a school if those sections don’t share responsibilities or budget for leadership development.
