Most, if not all International Schools, have professional development (PD) resources for Middle Leaders. Whether it be relying on ACAMIS’s annual Middle Leadership courses, the National Professional Qualification for Middle Leaders (NPQML) or a mixed bag approach of book studies and mentoring, school administrators realize they need to do more than just pick the right person for the job, they need to equip them with the right tools.

This job-a-like, our 4th Annual PD event for Professional Development Coordinators, is for anyone with a responsibility for planning, facilitating or supporting leadership development in their school. In previous years we tackled tough questions of how to more effectively plan and evaluate professional development. These topics will still be part of the job-a-like this year, but they will be presented from the perspective of how to ensure the most important stakeholder, senior leadership, is included. By involving senior leaders in the development of aspiring leaders in their school, they contribute directly to the continuum of growth within their school. Please note the use of the word initiatives, which is intended to mean all the activities that must take place in order to develop great leaders, of which leadership training programs are just a small part.

Target Audience:  This job-a-like is for all leaders across a school, Primary and Secondary, that coordinate and lead professional learning. This includes, but is not limited to: Principals, Deputies, Heads of Faculty, Heads of Department, Grade Level Leaders, Coordinators and Instructional Coaches.

Language:   English

Time Requirement:    3 hours, plus 2-hours reading before the job-a-like

Breakout Stands:   There will be 4 facilitators for this job-a-like, each will facilitate a discussion on 1 of 4 topics:

  • What do whole-school leaders need to know and do
  • Assessing leadership competencies and skills
  • Senior Leaders as Coaches and Mentors
  • Monitoring and Evaluating Leadership Development

Post Meeting Activity:    Peer Review a PD Plan (Optional). An online collaborative PD program planning template will be provided for outlining your Leadership Development Program and for peers to comment on.

Certificate Course:      5 hours of professional learning

Meeting Time:    15:00 - 18:30 Hong Kong Time Zone (2 x 10-minute Breaks)

Date:    Thursday, September 23

Meeting Software:             Zoom for Audio/Video and Teams for file sharing

Access to Recordings:     Included for registrants and available in Teams for 1 year


 

What is the cost of the online learning experience?

Space is limited to 60 people to ensure interactive and productive dialog. A school campus may only send 4 people. If a school has multiple campuses it may send 4 people per campus. A campus may be considered the Primary, Middle and Secondary school sections of a school if those sections don’t share responsibilities or budget for leadership development.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO PARTICIPANTS

Emails related to this Online PD Program will be sent from events@pdacademia.comPlease immediately add this email sender to your safe sender list.

Approximately 2-weeks before the start of the course, participants will be emailed a course introduction, instructions for how to participate and a pre-course survey and readings, if applicable.  If you do not receive this email please let us know.

REGISTRATION FEE / SPONSORSHIP FEE REFUND POLICY

If notice of cancellation re the registered participant/sponsor is received:

  • 30+ days pre-event: 80% of fee is refundable
  • 15-29 days pre-event: 40% of fee is refundable
  • Less than 15 days pre-event: no refund

Online PD Programs - No refund will be granted re participants commencing an online PD program and withdrawing part way through. Course material fees (re DiSC surveys, book fees, etc) are not refundable once access is granted.

 

REFUND DUE TO PD EVENT CANCELLATION

In the event of cancellation of a conference, workshop or online PD program, we will fully refund the registration or sponsorship fee(s) paid. However, we will be unable to refund any travel, visa or accommodation expenses incurred or course material fees where access has been granted.
