Marketing and admissions are central strategic risks for international schools. The international school sector is being pressured to increasingly operate in a market, introducing new demands and risks. Increasingly, as competition for students’ rises and the sector is increasingly market driven, international schools will need to widen and enhance the strategic scope and quality of their marketing and admissions approaches and strategies.

This Professional Learning Network will facilitate and support marketing and admissions professionals in international schools to attain key shared goals:

  1. To build a solid recruitment (enrolment) base.
  2. To improve overall retention of existing families between year and section levels.
  3. To build referral (word of mouth) among the internal and external community.
  4. To communicate marketing messages and engagement actions that will support reputation and competitive standing.

This Professional Learning Network will focus on collaboration and learning to advance marketing and admissions practices and developing a critical, reflective and inclusive approach with our practices and programs. Specifically, facilitation will seek to drive and open discussion around a range of priority areas including marketing and admissions approach, brand, differentiation and positioning, market research, marketing planning and execution, communications and resourcing for effective marketing.

Sessions will be facilitated by Dr Stephen Holmes PhD, Principal and Founder of The 5Rs Partnership (www.5rspartnership.com), a global education consultancy based in Singapore, established in 2004. Dr Holmes is widely regarded to be the most experienced, credentialed consultant/facilitator in the world in marketing for the school sector. Stephen is the only full-time practising consultant in the world with a PhD in the specific field of school marketing. Stephen has since consulted, researched, published and spoken globally with schools and universities at the highest levels with an unmatched client base in breadth and depth spanning three decades. In 2021, Stephen presented a highly successful and heavily subscribed 5-day online workshop for ACAMIS members.

The sessions will be participative, interactive to share ideas and practice and networking, allowing all ACAMIS participants to contribute and benefit from the contributions of others. This PLN will facilitate an ideal forum for participants to exchange information and ideas, and learn from one another. Dr Holmes will provide perspective and case studies of solution, action-oriented and reflective counsel from his 3 decades of global school consulting to support interaction and enrich discussion.

This professional learning network is ideal for any marketing and admissions manager or Director in international schools and also school leaders who have direct or indirect responsibility for marketing and wider school strategy and reputation.

Dr Stephen Holmes is Principal and Founder of The 5Rs Partnership (www.5rspartnership.com) established in 2004.

Dr Holmes is widely regarded to be the most experienced, credentialed consultant/facilitator in the world in the related concepts of strategic planning, reputation management, brand, and marketing strategy for the education sector. Stephen is the only full-time practising consultant in the world with a PhD in the specific field of education marketing and reputation strategy.

In the late 1990s, Stephen significantly defined the role of a responsive approach from schools, colleges and universities via the 5Rs framework (recruitment, retention, referral, relationships and reputation) in his seminal PhD study on creating a market orientation in education systems.

Now based in Asia, and with offices also in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Australia, Stephen has since consulted, researched, published and spoken globally with schools, colleges and universities at the highest levels with an unmatched client base in breadth and depth spanning three decades. Research evidence has always informed his practice, something that helps to forge trust with education sector clients globally. Stephen’s school client list is unmatched in both breadth and depth spanning over 3 decades.
