Practical Strategies of Differentiation in Mandarin Foreign Language Class
In this session, I will share with teachers several practical strategies that I use for teaching students of different levels in the same Mandarin class. Differeniations by contents, tasks, supports and outcomes. Help each student learn and achieve their best in Mandarin even they are at various levels.
Differentiation is always a topic of language teaching and learning. Teachers more or less learn Differenciations in theory and practise them in the daily teaching. It is always challenge for teachers to plan and deliver lessons for a mixed group lesson. However, the reality is the number of foreginner students redcues and we have to do differencatios for more and more mixed Mandarin groups. In ancient Chinese educational philosophy, we also have a lot of vauled ideas about differeniations, like 因材施教，有教无类 and so on. As Chinese teachers, we have the responsitlities to put these ideas into practice.
Primary teachers who teach Mandarin as a foreign language, espeacilly for whom teach a mixed group.
