Christina Nelson is a Professional Learning Specialist with WIDA’s international program facilitating the WIDA Institute. She taught and advocated for secondary multilingual learners from all over the world in Lawrence, Kansas, where she gained her master’s degree in education from the University of Kansas and mentored new ELL teachers, before continuing her career in Ecuador, Turkey and Vietnam. In Vietnam, Christina led the 6-12 EAL program and utilized the WIDA framework with her colleagues and students as well as facilitated workshops to international teachers.
Julie Facine is the EAL program coordinator for an American international school in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She has extensive experience working with multilingual learners across various countries and age groups as well facilitating professional development workshops for teachers. She earned her bachelor degree in education from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and went on to teach in South Korea, Turkey, and Vietnam. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree online from the University of Massachusetts Boston in the field of applied linguistics.
