Important Update - Conference Date Changed to April 23-24, 2022

Due to increased travel restrictions during and after Chinese New Year which overlaps this year with the Winter Olympics and Paralympics, we have been advised to change the ACAMIS Spring Leadership Conference to a later time. After consulting with the host school, Canadian International School of Guangzhou, we concluded to move the conference to Saturday and Sunday, April 23-24, 2022

The theme of this year's conference is Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow. On a very practical level, we will be learning at the conference and looking to lead with our learning when we return to our schools. However, the theme also speaks to the role that schools play in developing our students to be future leaders. Likewise, it speaks to the call on us as educators to be lifelong learners. The learning never stops. The best leaders are those that are constantly learning. In these challenging times, the schools and leaders that survive will be those that are able to learn, unlearn and relearn.  We are looking for presenters who can share best practises, insights & innovation and challenge us to look beyond our traditional solutions so that we can find solutions for tomorrow's challenges.



We are looking for teachers with valuable ideas, insights and teaching/learning strategies to share at our conference.  You may present on your own or with one or two co-presenters.

Safety of our conference participants is our greatest concern. We expect travel will be mostly unrestricted and as we are all in need of interaction with our peers, we have planned this as a live onsite conference.  We prefer accepting presentation submissions from those who are able to attend and present live at the conference.  However, if travel restrictions are in place in your region, we will explore converting to a virtual presentation. Meanwhile, if you make a submission and it is approved you should expect to attend the live onsite conference, but if due to travel restrictions you cannot attend, then you commit to presenting virtually to the conference.

We are seeking presentation proposals that have a clear link to aspects of this theme.  Peer presentations are welcomed for each of the five strands of the conference, which are:

  • Heads, Principals
  • Middle Management and Aspiring Leaders
  • Business Managers, HR
  • Athletic Directors
  • ACE & Performing Arts Coordinators

CIS was established in September 2012, with just a handful of students. In 2015, CIS became the first international school in China to achieve accreditation as an Alberta international school. In 2016, CIS offered its first Grade 12 courses. CIS graduates receive the Alberta High School Diploma which is recognized by universities and colleges around the world. In June 2018, our community of about 200 students and staff relocated to our brand-new, purpose-built campus at Dongyi Road in Panyu District. Each space has been meticulously tailored to student educational and learning needs. At CIS, we truly value the development of the whole-child through our small-class sizes, diverse programming and extensive options and extra-curricular classes. Our new campus reflects the variety of talents and dreams that our students have, from the academic or athletic to the scientific and artistic.

Today, CIS has an enrolment of 600 students, representing 45 nationalities. CIS is a now a dynamic place of learning where our students learn to lead with confidence, compassion and enthusiasm. They are inspired to become resilient problem-solvers who see the world with a lens of innovation. They learn today, so that they will lead tomorrow!

If notice of cancellation re the registered participant/sponsor is received:

  • 30+ days pre-event: 80% of fee is refundable
  • 15-29 days pre-event: 40% of fee is refundable
  • Less than 15 days pre-event: no refund

Online PD Programs - No refund will be granted re participants commencing an online PD program and withdrawing part way through. Course material fees (re DiSC surveys, book fees, etc) are not refundable once access is granted.



In the event of cancellation of a conference, workshop or online PD program, we will fully refund the registration or sponsorship fee(s) paid. However, we will be unable to refund any travel, visa or accommodation expenses incurred or course material fees where access has been granted.
