Shared Values Drives Transformational Collaboration
Heads of School and Principals: Presentation would focus on several cases where I have worked with Senior Leaders and Boards to form Task Forces to articulate/revisit their Guiding Statements to bring their values to the forefront of planning and decision making and then formulate top level Objectives to provide guidance for how teams plan and achieve their goals.
Middle Leaders: Presentation would focus on Chapter 9 of my soon to be published book, Hidden in Plain Sight: Realizing the Full Potential of Middle Leaders, where I present case studies and proven tools demonstrating for teacher leaders how to align the work of their team with the Guiding Statements and Strategy of the school. In this interactive session I would work with participants to redefine the role of middle leaders that puts the values of the school and staff at the center of their work. Establishing a purose for a team that makes values explicit will help middle leaders to mitigate non-constructive conflict and increases buy-in to working interdependently.
Business Managers: Presentation would present a case for why and how non-academic teams can be Mission driven and establish Objectives and Key Results that support the values of the school. This presentation would mirror the Middle Leaders presentation but be contextualized with a case study of how I helped Shanghai American School use the tools and concepts to develop the capacity of Non-Academic staff across all departments.
