Suzhou Singapore International School
Ewen Bailey is an experienced international educator and currently the Director of Professional Learning and Development (K-12) at SSIS in Suzhou. Ewen is passionate about bridging the gap between research and classroom practice in education and is humbled by the scale of the task at hand in striving to better understand how we can create learning environments where all our students can flourish. Ewen is fascinated by the challenges and opportunities presented by the tension between research from the natural sciences and social sciences. The challenge is great but that’s what makes it so worthwhile!
Lucy Burden - During her 30 years as a secondary English, Drama, Humanities and Learning Support teacher and more recently as a school leader, Lucy has endeavored to break down the barriers that exist for teachers to grow and learn professionally in a meaningfully way and within a job embedded structure.
She believes that the role of school leaders is to provide teachers with opportunities to be lifelong learners and that evaluation models and structures should have a focus on growth and inquiry. She is currently Secondary Principal at SSIS Suzhou, where she has previously worked as a Learning Support teacher, Head of Grade and Assistant Principal. Lucy had teaching and leadership roles in government and independent schools in Australia before coming to China.
