Get Outside! Two experiential learning activities to promote well-being
Learning shouldn't be confined to the classroom, and meaningful experiences can occur anytime, anywhere. Building connections off campus leads to increased well-being and sense of where one fits in the world. I will describe two activities I created that helped students build resilience and collaborative skills. In Hangzhou Hunt, students raced around the city tracking down “escaped” teachers using GPS, while solving place-based mini-missions. In Lost in Hangzhou, students explored a cultural aspect of the city, and used ARCGIS to share their experience. I will also explain how to adapt these to meet virtual or hybrid learning needs.
