Quiz Bowl was initiated by the National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT), is an academic trivia competition in which two teams compete to answer questions across all areas of knowledge: history, math, literature, music, pop culture, and more. It gives students a fun and challenging way to expand their academic interests.

Teams:
Schools can apply to bring as many teams as they are able to. If the total number of registrations exceeds 20 teams, then we will limit the maximum number of teams from individual schools. Each team must bring a coach who can support the tournament as a moderator. NAQT also strongly recommends all invited teams have a coach.
Format and Rules:
As a whole, we will use standard NAQT rules. Each game will take no longer than 45 minutes. Moderators will be instructed to stop at that point. If a tossup has been started already, they may finish it, as well as the bonus questions. If they are in the middle of the bonus questions, then they can finish the bonuses as well.
Each packet consists of 20 cycles of 1 tossup and 3 bonus questions. For each tossup, once a player buzzes, an answer must begin within 3 seconds after the player has been recognized. An answer begun after the moderator has said “Time” will be treated as no answer. Ties between the player and the moderator calling time are decided in favor of the player. At the end of the tossup, both teams have 3 seconds to buzz before the tossup is dead. For each bonus question, a team has 5 seconds to discuss before being prompted for an answer, then 3 more seconds to answer in the format “answer, final” or “answer, directed”.
Teams will play a round-robin format through the preliminary rounds. They will then be seeded according to ranking/PPTUH for a single elimination playoff. The number of rounds/timings may be adjusted based on final number of registered teams.
