Student Power - Fall 2026
ACAMIS Newsletter Fall 2026
Message From ACE Events Chair, Virginia Lee

Welcome to another exciting year of ACAMIS student events!
This year, Academic and Cultural Enrichment (ACE) is offering its largest and most diverse selection of events ever! Whether it is performing at a music festival, competing in a chess competition, or showcasing one’s digital art in an online gallery, there is something for every student and every interest.
ACE Events build skills that go far beyond the classroom and provide students with the chance to grow academically, connect with those around them, and develop confidence in their craft. They give students (and their teachers) new ideas to bring back and revitalize their home school programs. These events also give students the chance to build a sense of accomplishment and showcase their talents and skills to a broader audience. Finally, ACE Events are an opportunity to build connections between students who share common interests, creating lifelong friendships across China and Mongolia. We cannot wait to see the incredible work of our students and schools this year!
ACAMIS also offers an exciting range of sports and robotics events, along with student leadership opportunities, including a conference in partnership with PD Academia and a two-day workshop at the International School of Tianjin (IST). These opportunities help students build confidence and develop leadership, teamwork, and collaborative learning skills.
Explore our full list of events, mark your calendars, and contact your school’s ACE Representative, the relevant Sports Chairs or Robotics Committees, or the host schools and partner organizations for details on how to take part.
With warm regards,
Virginia Lee

ACAMIS Robotics: Inspiring Future Innovators
ACAMIS Robotics brings students together to explore engineering, coding, creativity, and teamwork through engaging, real-world challenges. During the 2026–2027 FIRST LEGO League season, students will explore the CANOPY theme by designing and coding autonomous robots and developing innovative ideas to better understand and protect the natural world.
ACAMIS also supports approximately 300 teams participating in the VEX IQ and V5 competitions—part of one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing robotics programs for middle and high school students. Through hands-on robotics and research challenges, students strengthen their STEM, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Visit the ACAMIS Robotics webpage for more information and updates.

Establishing a Student-Staffed & Managed Learning Center
October 17–18, 2026 | International School of Tianjin
Turn student agency into action—and build a literacy-rich culture where students learn with and from one another.
In this dynamic two-day workshop for students in grades 6–12, participants discover how to launch and lead a successful student-staffed and managed learning center. The workshop draws on the International School of Tianjin’s Literacy Lab, a 10-year, proven model that has grown from a small, teacher-led writing center into a thriving learning hub supporting reading, writing, note-taking, presenting, and discussion.
With more than 60 student coaches and managers, the Literacy Lab serves grades 5–12 during lunch and after school, welcoming more than 1,200 visits each year. Its model has since been adopted by 15+ schools across Asia.
Participants will explore the practical systems, structures, and discussion-based strategies that make student-led learning work. Rather than tutoring or giving answers, student coaches learn to ask purposeful questions, spark critical thinking, and help peers develop their own solutions.
The result? A sustainable learning center that builds skills, confidence, leadership, and genuine ownership of learning—while creating a more inclusive, collaborative culture for everyone. We encourage teachers, librarians, service coordinators, and curriculum coordinators to register for this dynamic workshop.
We would greatly appreciate it if you would take three minutes to complete our survey. It asks about current student media at your school and whether your school would like free remote peer coaching.
Student Leadership Conference
In partnership with PDAcademia, ACAMIS is once again putting student agency and leadership at the heart of our work.
Building on the incredible momentum of last year’s Student Leadership Conferences—which brought together more than 135 students and 30 faculty advisers—we are excited to offer three dynamic conferences this year, each exploring a different dimension of student leadership: Social Innovation, Technology Leadership, and Sports Leadership.
Each conference is designed to be more than a single day. Students will take part in pre-conference online sessions, an interactive conference day, and a post-conference showcase where they can celebrate their learning, share ideas, and highlight the impact of their work.
Social Innovation
Yew Chung International School Shanghai Pudong | Saturday, February 27, 2027
The ACAMIS Student Leadership Conference on Social Innovation brings together student teams who are using service, creativity, and community insight to make a difference in their schools and local communities.
This one-day, in-person conference is designed for school teams of up to 5 students and 1–2 faculty advisers. Students won't simply attend sessions—they will help shape the learning before the event, share their own work during the conference, and showcase what they have learned afterwards.
Technology Leadership
Student Leadership in a Changing Digital World
Beijing City International School | Saturday, March 6, 2027
The Technology Leadership conference brings together students and faculty advisers who are exploring how technology can enhance learning, communication, creativity, and school life.
Designed for school teams of up to 5 students and 1–2 faculty advisers, the conference gives students an active role in identifying challenges, presenting ideas, sharing experiences, and shaping future action.
Technology leadership is about more than using new tools. It is about making thoughtful decisions, supporting peers, asking responsible questions, and helping our schools adapt confidently to change.
Sports Leadership
Shekou International School | Saturday, March 6, 2027
The ACAMIS Student Leadership Conference on Sports Leadership brings together student athletes, team captains, activity leaders, and faculty advisers who want to explore the powerful role sport can play in school life.
School teams of up to 5 students and 1–2 faculty advisers will learn together and separately throughout the programme, exploring how leadership can shape teams, communities, and the student experience.
Because sports leadership is about far more than performance. It is about building team culture, including others, responding to pressure, modelling sportsmanship, and helping younger students discover confidence through participation.
We warmly encourage schools to bring a team, share your ideas, learn from others, and be part of the next generation of ACAMIS student leaders.
